Process & Inspiration
I strive to create work that is easy to use, comfortable, and playful. I start with the wheel and add a variety of surface decoration to the form which gives it a lively personality and movement. Time spent at family gatherings inspire my work- sewing, outdoor playtime, and evening adventures in my childhood environment with my sister. The community built around wood firing has been a major influence in finishing my work for years. Recently I have pursued a transition to mid-range firing in an electric kiln to achieve a brighter surface with more control. As I have experimented with this new temperature, I have enjoyed watching my decoration slowly change as I realize what I can get away with on the surface.
